On April 12, 2025, the serene Kathak Rhythms Studio in Plano, TX transformed into a vibrant hub of Indian classical music, as GEMHS presented an enchanting Dhrupad and Carnatic Jugalbandi. More than just a concert, it felt like a family reunion—where tradition, community, and compassion intertwined in a meaningful celebration.

The evening showcased an exquisite blend of musical genres. From the Dhrupad tradition, Arundhati Date’s soulful vocals were powerfully supported by Vivek Virani on tabla and pakhawaj, and Umamahesh Iyer on Hindustani violin. The Carnatic side featured the expressive voice of Anjali Prabala, seamlessly accompanied by Swapanthi Mallajosyula on violin and Chidatma Datta on mridangam. Together, the ensemble delivered a deeply spiritual and emotionally rich performance that resonated with everyone present.

The care and planning behind the event were evident in every detail. Guests appreciated not just the music, but also the inviting environment—with soft carpeted floors, refreshing room ambiance, neatly arranged seating, and a warm spread of tea, coffee, and a delicious dinner catered by A2B.

A heartfelt thanks goes to the incredible volunteer team whose efforts made the event seamless and smooth:

Tavishi Dumpala, Sindhu Gudimella, Samhitha Prasanna, Dhriti Dumpala, Samyuktha Gudimella, Tejaswini Jaganathan, Sahasra Sudhagar, and Sahana Sudhagar. From setup and cleanup to helping with tech and hospitality, their contributions were vital.

The technical setup was executed to perfection by Ravi from Aikya Band, who managed audio, video, and livestream. Dheeraj from Saravana Creations handled photography, Siva worked on video editing, and Deepak prepared the video highlights. Audio recording was also supported by Saravana Creations.

A touching conclusion to the event was a surprise car donation to Deepak—a key contributor—underscoring GEMHS’s commitment to uplifting not just the arts but also individuals who serve selflessly behind the scenes.

This jugalbandi was not only a musical milestone but also a testament to the power of planning, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose. It will be remembered as a beautiful coming together of sound, spirit, and service.
