Prathika Sakthivel - The Dancer

It was nice to meet Prathika today, exactly a year after her Bharatanatyam Arangetram, and reflect on the incredible journey she’s had. Her Bharatanatyam Arangetram on August 5, 2023, was an awe-inspiring showcase of her dedication and love for dance. Prathika’s passion for dance ignited at a very young age, and over the years, she has evolved into a versatile and accomplished performer of various dance styles. Her journey into Bharatanatyam began at the age of 12 under the guidance of Smt. Lakshmi Sriraman, and this Arangetram was a testament to her years of discipline, commitment, and devotion to the art form.

The orchestra that accompanied her performance added an enriching depth to the Arangetram:

Despite the challenges of preparing for an Arangetram with her guru living in another city and state, Prathika made the entire performance look effortless. It was clear that for Prathika, dance is a part of her being, and she brings each performance to life with grace and elegance.

Beyond her skills in Bharatanatyam, Prathika’s leadership and service shine through in all areas of her life. She volunteers at a local pediatrician’s practice, held officer positions in various clubs—such as Vice President in Future Health Professionals and Hospitality in HOSA—and participated in a variety of school competitions and events. In her free time, Prathika choreographs for community events, runs dance workshops for children, sings, and enjoys time with family and friends.

Prathika not only excels in dance but also harbors a deep passion for medicine, aspiring to become a pediatrician. She balances her rigorous academic journey with her unwavering dedication to dance, proving herself a multifaceted and determined individual. Her passion for dance extends beyond Bharatanatyam as she also serves as an Assistant Dance Instructor for Bollywood and Hip-Hop styles and is an active participant in her school’s competitive dance team.
