On Friday, July 31, 2026, family, friends, and lovers of Indian classical arts gathered at the Granville Arts Center in Garland, Texas, to celebrate a remarkable milestone in the lives of Swapna & Tanvi—their Bharatanatyam Arangetram.
Hosted by Chandu and Family, this special evening marked the culmination of years of disciplined training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Madhusri Sethuraman. More than a debut performance, an Arangetram is a celebration of perseverance, artistic excellence, and a lifelong commitment to one of India’s oldest and most revered classical dance traditions.

The evening began with a traditional Pooja, seeking divine blessings from the Almighty before the dancers took the stage.
The Margam – A Journey Through Bharatanatyam
The performance followed the traditional Margam, meaning “path,” which guides the audience through the complete artistic vocabulary of Bharatanatyam. Every piece contributes to a larger journey—from devotion and rhythm to storytelling, emotion, and celebration.
Section I – Invocation and Foundation
The recital opened with Gajananayutham, a prayer to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and patron of new beginnings.
Tanvi then performed Jathiswaram, showcasing the elegance and precision of pure dance through intricate rhythmic patterns and graceful movements.
Swapna followed with Thiruppavai, a devotional composition inspired by Andal’s timeless verses, expressing unconditional love and complete surrender to the Divine.
During the first intermission, guests enjoyed a presentation highlighting the dancers’ journey, accompanied by heartfelt speeches from family and friends.
Section II – The Heart of the Performance
The centerpiece of the evening was the majestic Varnam – Mathe Malayadhwaja, dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi. This demanding composition beautifully combined technical brilliance with expressive storytelling, highlighting the dancers’ years of rigorous training.
The audience was then treated to Rusali Radha, portraying the emotional longing of Radha for Krishna, followed by Indariki Abhayam, celebrating Lord Vishnu as the eternal protector and refuge of all devotees.
The second intermission featured the felicitation of the accompanying musicians, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the evening, along with additional slideshow presentations and heartfelt messages.
Section III – A Joyous Finale
The recital concluded with the energetic Thillana, a dazzling display of rhythmic precision, graceful movements, and vibrant choreography.
The final piece, Brahmamokate, left the audience with a message of spiritual unity, reminding everyone that the Divine resides equally in every heart.

The evening also included touching speeches from family and friends, honoring the dedication of Swapna and Tanvi throughout their years of training. Guru Smt. Madhusri Sethuraman was felicitated for her guidance, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of Bharatanatyam artists.
