Amritavarshini - Nadaamritam 2025: A Melodic Tribute to Post-Trinity Composers

The annual Nadaamritam festival by Amritavarshini Academy is a grand celebration of Carnatic music, showcasing the beauty and depth of this rich tradition. This year, the Veena and Vocal segments brought an unparalleled vibrancy, featuring compositions by post-Trinity composers who have enriched Carnatic music through their lyrical and melodic innovations. The event was hosted by Lasya Praturi and Dhruv Pediredla for the Veena segment, and Harshini Kathiresan and Kruthi Bhogaraju for the Vocal segment, with Lavanya Inguva joining as a special host. Together, they led the audience through an exquisite journey of musical brilliance.

Key Highlights of the Veena Segment

Amma Aananda Dayini (Ragam: Gambheera Nata, Thalam: Adi) – Composed by Sri Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, this opening piece was rendered beautifully by Neela, Chakri, Padmini, Raji, and Sravya, setting the perfect tone for the evening.

Krishnum Vishnum (Ragam: Sankarabharanam, Thalam: Adi) – A spiritually uplifting composition by Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji, performed by Sugu, Saudamini, Kalpana, Radha, and Sunitha. The piece highlighted the Swamiji’s belief in the healing power of music.

Swarapallavi (Ragam: Amritavarshini, Thalam: Adi) – Composed by Sri Srini Prabhala, this piece was presented by Ushasree, Soundarya, Anitha, Raji, Sudha, and Arasi. Known for its association with rain, Amritavarshini brought a refreshing energy to the stage.

Rara Raama (Ragam: Bangala, Thalam: Adi) – A devotion-filled composition by Garbhapuri Vasa, brought to life by Deeksha, Sahana, Vimala, Zniya, Daksh, Ramya, and Rama.

Namah Sivayah (Ragam: Hindolam, Thalam: Adi) – A profound tribute to Lord Shiva, composed by Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma and performed by Lipi, Sreekari, Diya, Ananya, and Akshara.

Sudhamayi (Ragam: Amritavarshini, Thalam: Rupakam) – Composed by Muthiah Bhagavatar, presented by Surekha, Pallavi, Vindhya, Lavanya, Vaishnavi, and Raji, this composition captured the audience with its lyrical beauty.

Saraswati Namostute (Ragam: Saraswati, Thalam: Rupakam) – A divine invocation by G.N. Balasubramaniam, skillfully rendered by Mahati, Kruti, Swarupa, Lasya, Varshia, Komala, and Harshini.

Thillana (Ragam: Mohana Kalyani, Thalam: Adi) – The energetic rhythms of Lalgudi G. Jayaraman’s Thillana, performed by Swarupa, Mahati, and Sravya, left the audience mesmerized.

Govinda Namalu (Ragam: Ragamalika, Thalam: Adi) – Composed by Padmasree Kanyakumari, this grand concluding performance, featuring a large ensemble, left a lasting impact on everyone present.

Hara Svedam (Ragam: Sankarabharanam, Thalam: Eka) – A timeless kriti by Sri Swathi Tirunal, sung by Aadhya, Tara Skanda, Veda, and ensemble, invoking the presence of Lord Shiva.

Mandhara Dhaare (Ragam: Kambhoji, Thalam: Adi) – A composition by Paidala Gurumurthi Sastry, presented by Aradhya, Sai Akarsha, Shristi, Aadhya Sri, Pranavi, Nidhi, Sriyan, Ananya, Vedasya, and Snigdha, capturing the grandeur of Kambhoji raga.

Rara Venu (Ragam: Bilahari, Thalam: Adi) – A Patnam Subramanya Iyer composition, brought to life by Akshaj, Anvesh, Vihan, Karthik, Kalyani, Pranathi, Tanushree, and Snigdha.

Sambasiva Yanave (Ragam: Khamas, Thalam: Adi) – A Chinna Krishna Dasa composition, rendered by Prerna, Rithvika, Arush, Dheemahi, and Pravika, paying homage to Lord Shiva.

Neekela Daya (Ragam: Khamas, Thalam: Adi) – A Mysore Vasudevachar composition, presented by Sanjana Vallampati and Anjali Prabhala, exuding the lyrical beauty of Khamas raga.
